What’s Cool About These Parks?
The famous Tsavo Lions, lots of them. They’re unique with their unusual short manes and carry with them a history of great ferocity. The many elephants here impress with their rosy coats, an artifact of rolling in the park’s red-oxide soil.
Privately-owned Taita Hills Sanctuary is indeed a refuge for over 50 species of large mammals. Because it is small, the rangers have a good handle on where the wildlife is and it’s common for safari-goers to chalk up lots of big game sightings like lion and elephant while roaming the reserve.
The Extras
Depending on your choice of accommodation you can enjoy extra activities like campfire dinners, bush breakfasts, swimming pool, spa, waterhole views of wildlife, and evening bonfires.
